1870-CC<50C> XF40 ANACS. From the tiny mintage of 54,617 pieces, survivors in XF and above are rare, according to Wiley-Bugert. This piece offers considerable mint luster that still radiates from the smoke-gray surfaces. The light strike on BER in LIBERTY and on the eagle's left leg and neck feathers is characteristic of the issue, and due apparently to the fledgling Carson City Mint's inexperience. This charming example, however, shows no major distractions other than light circulation wear consistent with the grade. Good eye appeal.
