1870-CC $5 VG10 NGC. Gold specialists Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006) assert that: "The gold coins from the early years of production at the Carson city Mint were truly workhorse coinage. Most of the coins seen for the issue are very heavily worn. The Smithsonian example is a Very Fine polished coin." Fewer than 120 pieces have been certified by NGC and PCGS combined, ranging in grade from AG3 to MS62. The presently offered VG10 specimen is dominated by yellow-gold and reddish-gold patina, and retains fairly nice detail. A few minute contact marks are scattered about, especially on the obverse; none, however, are worthy of individual mention.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
