<B>1870-CC $5 VF25 NGC.</B></I> The 1870-CC half eagle is overshadowed by the much-promoted 1870-CC double eagle and eagle, but the half eagle is also a formidable rarity. Only 7,675 pieces were struck, the third lowest Carson City issue of the series. The 1870-CC is rarer than either of the lower mintage issues, the 1873-CC and the 1876-CC. This golden-tan piece has ample wing definition and some lilac patina on the shield.
