1870-CC 25C AG3 PCGS. Only 8,340 quarte
1870-CC<25C> AG3 PCGS. Only 8,340 quarters were struck at the Carson City Mint in 1870, its first year of operation. While Seated dollars of this date and mint were set aside as souvenirs to some degree, the quarters received little interest until the 20th century, when collecting by mintmark became a hobby practice. The present piece is sharp for the AG3 grade. The stars and reverse peripheral legends are essentially complete, the mintmark is clear, and the date is bold. The BER in LIBERTY is sharp. A diagonal scratch is noted near the 0 in the date. PCGS has certified a mere 26 pieces in all grades.
