<B>1870 5C MS66 PCGS.</B></I> The 1870 Shield nickel, with a mintage approaching 5 million business strikes, can be found in Mint State, especially through the near-Gem level of preservation. Higher-grade Uncirculated coins, however, are more difficult to obtain. The Premium Gem we offer in this lot exudes pleasing luster from light gray surfaces, and reveals a well executed strike. Peripheral obverse die cracks, as well as some faint reverse ones, result in additional interest. No mentionable abrasions are evident on either side.
