1870<50C> Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-942, Pollock-1055, High R.8, PR65 Brown NGC. NOTE: This coin has a mechanical error in the attribution. The insert reads Judd-948, but it is actually a Judd-942. The obverse design is a bust of Liberty facing right, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll below. Liberty is wearing a cap ornamented with two stars, and a ribbon crossing her shoulder is inscribed LIBERTY in incuse letters (the Judd-948 has raised letters), the reverse has the denomination 50 CENTS and the date 1870 within a wreath of cotton and corn, with the inscription STANDARD above. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Flashy, mirrored fields on each side highlight iridescent blue, brown, and red patina. A few small lint marks are noted on the obverse with the aid of a magnifier.
