1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar--Double Struck Wi
1870<50C> Standard Silver Half Dollar--Double Struck With Obverse Rotation--Judd-957, Pollock-1108, R.5, PR65 NGC. Liberty faces right, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. LIBERTY is inscribed on the headband, and a large star is on her forehead. A scroll below contains IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse features 50/CENTS/1870 within a wreath of cotton and corn, tied with the usual bowknot. STANDARD is centered above the wreath. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The obverse die rotated counterclockwise between two strikes, so that the first strike was largely but not entirely effaced by the second strike. All of IN GOD WE TRUST and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, and the profile show bold doubling. No sign of doubling shows on the reverse. The brilliantly mirrored surfaces are a delectable silver-gold. Census: 0 in 65, 2 finer (7/06).
