<B>1870 3CS PR66 PCGS.</B></I> Sea-green and lilac tones envelop the surfaces of this crisply struck proof, with iridescent blue color seeping in when the coin is turned under a light just so. Only the slightest striking weakness is visible on the reverse stars, and the surfaces are seemingly free from defects. A mere thousand proofs were struck, yet they have survived in far greater frequency than the low mintage circulation strikes of the year and are popular today with collectors seeking to complete date sets.
