<B>1870 3CS MS65 PCGS.</B></I> Gold, aqua-blue, and orange patina graces this meticulously struck and pleasing Gem. Mildly prooflike, hardly a surprise given the tiny business strike emission of 3,000 pieces. Silver coins were driven from circulation during the Civil War, and did not return by 1870, since Federal fractional currency could not be redeemed for specie.
