<B>1870 $3 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> Ex: Stecher Collection. Ample luster resides on brassy-gold surfaces, and an impressive strike has left its mark on the design features. A few faint marks scattered about are not inconsistent with a lightly circulated coin. The 1870 three dollar comes from a business-strike mintage of 3,500 coins and is quite scarce. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $5.00 from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag Bros. envelope with the notations "1870 Three Dollar Gold 5.00 V. Fine" included.
