<B>1870<$3> AU55 NGC.</B></I> Much prooflikeness remains on the lightly circulated surfaces, which are an appealing canary-yellow color with a tinge of copper on the obverse rim. Light die striae are visible on each side, and the leaf to the left of the date is mostly absent due to overpolishing of the die. Choice AU three dollar gold pieces appear to be a neglected area in today's gold market, and one that may be ripe for some "choice" acquisitions for astute collectors.<BR><I>From The Tide Collection.</B></I>
