1870 1C PR65 Red PCGS. The 1870 is not quite as rare at the finer levels of preservation as most of the proof Indian Cents from the mid-to-late 1860s, but it is still scarce in the present grade. Original golden-orange luster blankets both sides with no muting or toning in evidence. There are, however, suggestions of red color to the finish that become visible as the surfaces rotate into the light. Essentially full in striking definition with sufficiently bright fields for a proof Cent from this era. Close inspection with a loupe reveals a few as produced die polish lines in the reverse field--a not uncommon feature for the issue. Population: 20 in 65 Red, there are only four finer (1/03).From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
