<B>1869-S $5 VF35 PCGS.</B></I> Like a number of other gold coinage issues from the San Francisco Mint, the 1869-S half eagle was heavily circulated, and survivors from the original mintage of 31,000 pieces are scarce at every grade level. Typically struck with softness noted on the eagle's neck and arrow fletchings. Both side of the piece exhibit even wear and scattered small marks.
