1869 H10C PR67 PCGS. V-1. We believe that this attribution is correct, inasmuch as there is no repunching on the digits in the date. There is, however, a die lump on the upright of the 1 in the date just above the base. The outward appearance of this high quality specimen is one of rich, slightly mottled, lavender-charcoal and olive-gray toning. Brighter undertones are evident at direct angles in competing swirls of cobalt-blue, champagne, and gold colors. The otherwise razor sharp strike wanes a little over the upper left reverse wreath--a not uncommon feature for the type--and the accurately graded surfaces are devoid of bothersome handling marks. The 1869 is a lower mintage date with just 208,600 pieces produced, 600 coins of which were proofs. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (10/02).From the Philip Kaufman Collection.
