<B>1869 $3 MS60 NGC.</B></I> A mildly prooflike representative that displays surprisingly few marks. Given the fact that gold coins failed to circulate on the East Coast between 1862 and 1877, it comes as little surprise that only 2,500 business strike 1869 three dollar pieces were coined. Few if any were set aside by the Philadelphia dealers that would make later low mintage issues collectible in Gem condition. In fact, NGC has certified no 1869 examples above MS63.
