<B>1869 2C PR65 Red PCGS.</B></I> Six hundred or so proof two cent pieces were struck in 1869. Nearly 500 examples have been seen by PCGS and NGC to date, of which about 130 or so are in the Red classification. The current PR65 Red specimen displays orange-gold surfaces with light green and crimson accents, and the design features are sharply impressed throughout. A few inoffensive obverse flecks are noted, and there are no mentionable contact marks. A small lamination below the CEN of CENTS may help to pedigree this particular piece that generates great overall eye appeal. Housed a first generation PCGS holder.
