Once believed to be an 1869/8, and actually listed as such in Breen's <I>Encyclopedia</B></I> and earlier editions of <I>The Cherrypickers' Guide.</B></I> This bold repunched date variety maintains a separate <I>Guide Book</B></I> listing. This is a well struck Gem with booming luster and splendid copper-red color. Exquisitely preserved, as only the occasional small carbon fleck precludes perfection.
