<B>1868-S $20 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> According to Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006) in their discussion of the 1868 double eagle: "Very few were saved by contemporary collectors. Proof examples were the preferred method of collecting." The best that present-day collectors can hope to acquire is an AU specimen. This honey-gold AU58 coin possesses a good amount of luster, and is generally well struck, except for softness in the stars along the left border, and in portions of Liberty's hair. None of the light marks scattered about is worthy of individual mention.
