Most content concerns family news, with one letter citing the upcoming Andrew Johnson impeachment trials. A letter dated "<I>Washington, March 28, 1865</B></I>" the recipient is informed: "<I>We are very glad to know that you are coming Monday and think that John had better come too, and devote a day to the impeachment trial. Tell him I am afraid Congress will not attend to the 'Branch of Survey Bill' so soon as we should like to have them...</B></I>" President Johnson's impeachment trial would begin two days later on March 30, 1868.
