1868 H10C Half Dime, Judd-638, Pollock-710, Low R.6, P
<B>1868<H10C> Half Dime, Judd-638, Pollock-710, Low R.6, PR66 NGC.</B></I> Regular die trials striking of the 1868 half dime. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. It is likely that both the copper and nickel 'trials' of this year were actually deliberately struck for sale to collectors. About a dozen pieces are known of the nickel die trials, including pieces struck on both thick 25 grain and thin 18 grain planchets. A nicely mirrored and pinpoint-sharp piece with faint gold toning. The left obverse field shows a few minute gray pits. Numerous die striations are noted in the fields and were not polished out of the dies prior to striking.
