1868 5C Five Cents, Judd-628, Pollock-697, R.7, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. The obverse shows the head of Liberty similar to the Three Cent Nickel, only larger. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border and the date 1868 is below. The reverse has 5 CENTS in the center encircled by a laurel wreath, and IN GOD WE TRUST at the top in very small letters. Struck on a broad copper planchet with a plain edge. This is an expertly preserved Gem with dominant reddish-orange luster and only slight muting to olive-brown shades in a few areas. Modest, yet appreciable reflectivity shimmers in the fields; the devices are sharply defined throughout. Neither side reveals any blemishes that would call into question the validity of the assigned grade. From the Harold Hoogasian Collection.
