<B>1868<$5> AU50 NGC.</B></I> A scarce issue from a low mintage of 5,700 coins, all struck in mid-January, and apparently all from one pair of dies. A second die pair was utilized for the few Proofs that were struck the following month. Pale pinkish-yellow gold with traces of luster in the protected areas, and hints of greenish coloration on both sides. The surfaces are moderately abraded.
