<B>1868 $3 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> This is a highly appealing Gem, one of the finest survivors from a mintage of just 4,850 coins. Although the survival rate for this date is higher than many others, few Gem quality examples still exist. The majority of Mint State examples that still exist are in the lowest grade levels. The surfaces have the usual tiny blemishes that can gather during 140 years since the time it was issued, and yet none are of any significance. Both sides are sharply struck without any of the usual weakness. Each side has frosty light yellow luster with a hint of pink. Many of the survivors have prooflike surfaces, dissimilar to this Gem.
