<B>1868 25C PR66 NGC.</B></I> Even after the War ended, it took several years for coin production to reach pre-War levels. Only 29,400 quarters were struck in 1868 plus an extra 600 proofs. Proofs of this date are easily distinguishable as such (in case there is any doubt about a coin's status) by repunching at the top of the 1 in the date, the short die crack between ER in LIBERTY, and the large die lump below the bottom of the B in LIBERTY. This piece has deep reflectivity in the fields and each side is covered with thalo-blue and rose color.
