1868 10C Ten Cents, Judd-647, Pollock-720, Low R.6, PR66 PCGS. Ex: Pittman. The obverse features the almost identical design used on large cents from 1843 to 1857, while the reverse is similar except TEN CENTS is in the center of the wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. The 1 and the final 8 in the date are repunched, and the top of a stray letter is noted between AM in AMERICA. This is an earlier die state as it lacks the die crack above the denomination. A popular pattern due to the enigmatic return of the obsolete large cent obverse design. A well struck and impressively preserved Gem with light honey and steel-blue patina.
Ex: John Jay Pittman Collection (Akers, 10/1997), lot 795, which realized $5,170; ANA Convention sale (Abe Kosoff, 1958), lot 51, which sold for $50.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
