<B>1868 $10 Liberty Head Eagle, Judd-662, Pollock-735, 737, Low R.7, PR64 Brown PCGS.</B></I> The obverse has a bust of Liberty facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. Around, 13 stars, and below, the date. On the reverse, an eagle with wings spread, clutches three arrows and an olive branch. A ribbon carries the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Around, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and below, the denomination TEN D. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Examples of this design were coined in gold, copper, and aluminum with a total of about 30 known, including a dozen copper examples like this piece. This is a sharply struck example with attractive olive surfaces accented by hints of pale blue and iridescent toning.
