1867-S $20 MS60 PCGS. Like the other post-Civil War era double eagles produced at the San Francisco Mint, this issue had a fairly substantial mintage approaching 1 million pieces, but Uncirculated survivors are scarce. Currently, 28 coins reside in Mint State holders, according to NGC and PCGS population data, but this figure almost certainly includes an unknown number of resubmissions. The presently offered example is highly lustrous and boldly struck. The green-gold and pink surfaces display numerous small marks and a handful of moderate abrasions. Several dark-green specks are noted within Liberty's hair detail. This is a rare opportunity for the discerning specialist to acquire a Mint State representative of this conditionally challenging date and mintmark. Population: 6 in 60, 5 finer (2/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
