1867 S$1 PR64 Cameo NGC. Amazingly for a proof issue that is limited to 625 pieces, there are four distinct die varieties for the 1867 dollars. As enumerated in the Breen proof reference, this is the Breen-3 variety. The 1 and 7 in the date are closer to the top of the rock than to the rim, and on the reverse there is an extremely short tine of metal extending upward and left from the top of the middle leaf. This example has beautiful silver-orange patina over both sides, with a dollop of steel-blue on the reverse and silver in the centers. There is considerable contrast between the mirrored, glassy fields and the frosted devices. Contact marks are at an absolute minimum, and perusal under a glass reveals only some light hairlines in the fields on each side of this attractive specimen. Census: 17 in 64 Cameo, 19 finer (9/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
