1867 H10C PR68 S NGC. Toned with deep aqua blue to th 1867[H10C] PR68 [S NGC.
<B>1867<H10C> PR68 <S NGC.</B></I> Toned with deep aqua blue to the centers with a dash of lighter yellow-gold near the rim on the obverse, the reverse sports lighter blue with a dusky gold-gray overlay. On the reverse we also note a couple of faint lines which were in the planchet prior to striking as they move through letters and the wreath without interruption. The eye appeal is extraordinary if you like toned coins, and demand surfaces which are exceptionally clean. Fully and boldly struck by the dies, and this little Proof will certainly command a strong price for the abundant appeal. The number coined for the year was a token 625 pieces, perhaps half of which remain today. This particular coin is perhaps the very finest known or at least one of the two finest graded. The regular issue coinage for 1867 half dimes was quite low, so many collectors obtain a Proof example instead of a regular issue example of this date, which adds further pressure to this meager Proof mintage. Population: 2 in 68, 0 finer (9/05).
