1867 50C PR66 PCGS. Ex: Benson. The toning distribution is similar to that seen on the Benson specimen of the proof 1866 Motto Half that we are also offering in this sale--a feature that might suggest similar methods of preservation. The colors, however, are somewhat different with cobalt-blue, salmon-pink, and antique-gold hues evident at the denticles. Needle sharp in striking definition with surfaces that readily reveal deep reflectivity in the virtual absence of bothersome handling marks. NGC and PCGS combined have seen only 10 proof 1867 Halves at this level of preservation, and there is just one PR67 NGC specimen finer (10/02). The February 2002 installment of the Benson Collection Sale saw the Goldbergs auction this coin for $5,750 as lot 1025.From the Trane Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
