1867 50C MS65 PCGS. The 1867 was produced to the extent of 449,300 business strikes, many examples of which probably did not see widespread circulation. Rather, most Halves of this date were undoubtedly melted since silver coins were still not actively circulating in the eastern United States in the years immediately following the Civil War. Elusive in all grades, extant 1867 Half Dollars are increasingly more difficult to locate the higher one progresses up the grading scale. Gems and Superb Gems (certified MS65-MS68) number only six coins at PCGS (10/02), all of which constitute the Condition Census for the issue. This coin is richly frosted with moderately glowing fields and razor sharp striking definition over virtually every design element. There is essentially no toning to report, and both sides are equally free of distracting handling marks. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
