1867 $20 MS61 NGC. Since gold coins failed to circulate except on the West Coast in 1867, the mintage of 251,065 double eagles at Philadelphia was likely intended for export to Europe. Most of those pieces must have been eventually melted, given the scarcity of the 1867 in any grade. Between NGC and PCGS, only three pieces exceed the MS62 level, and those are certified MS63. This well struck and somewhat scuffy example has good luster and a single mentionable mark on the obverse rim at 7 o'clock.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
