1867 $2 1/2 Quarter Eagle, Judd-595, Pollock-659, Low R.7, PR66 Brown PCGS. The regular issue design for the 1867 Liberty Head quarter eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is another entry in the lineup of copper "trial pieces" for the 1867 coinage, produced solely as an addition to the Mint's rare coin inventory for sale to collectors. The Mint was the only "coin dealer" that could actually manufacture their own inventory. This example has a sharp strike and subdued olive-brown surfaces. A few tiny green specks are evident on each side. Various sources give different estimates of rarity, ranging from R.8 to Low R.7. Probably half a dozen examples survive today.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
