1867 1C MS65 Red PCGS. Although not widely recognized as such among non-specialists, the 1867 (9.8 million pieces produced) is a very rare coin with fully lustrous features. While we have offered more than our fair share of MS64 Red representatives in recent years, the present Gem is only the second MS65 Red PCGS example to appear in a major Heritage auction over the last decade. A coin that should see spirited bidding among advanced collectors, the surfaces are awash in pinkish-red luster with a blush of lilac tinting on the reverse. Most features are boldly defined, and the smooth surfaces are solidly graded at the Gem level. Population: 13 in 65 Red, only 1 finer (10/02).From the Joseph P. Gorrell Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
