1867 $10 AU55 NGC. The 3,140 piece mintage of the 1867 eagle is minuscule in comparison with the over 250,000 double eagles minted in Philadelphia the same year, yet the small figure is not especially unusual for an eagle minted in the 1860s and 1870s. Regardless, this is a tough coin to find in any grade, with a mere three certified in mint state grades by the major services (11/07), leaving date collectors to concentrate on those pieces that can be located in better AU grades. This coin shows light surface wear and the abrasions that might be expected from a soft coin venturing out into circulation. A good deal of rose-gold luster remains visible in the recessed points of the design.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
