<B>1866-S H10C MS65 PCGS.</B></I> The 1866-S half dime, with its mintage of 120,000 pieces, is quite scarce, especially in the higher grades. The Gem presented in this lot is one of just 14 examples certified by PCGS and NGC; these services have seen a total of 10 specimens in higher levels of preservation. Medium intensity sea-green and orange-gold toning at the margins frames near-brilliant centers. Potent luster enlivens both sides, and the design features reflect a good strike. Bothersome marks are absent. Light clash marks are noted on both obverse and reverse.
