1866-S 10C MS66 NGC.
1866-S 10C MS66 NGC. Greer-101. The 1866-S is an issue we have offered very few times in the past at public auction (nor have any of the other major auction companies for that matter). The mintage of this issue was 135,000 pieces; however, attrition took a very heavy toll, as today it is scarce in all grades and very rare in Mint condition. Only two MS66 coins have been certified between both of the major services (both are NGC), and not surprisingly, none are finer (11/03). This is a later die state, as evidenced by a pronounced die crack from Liberty's ear down her body to the banner on the shield, and another die crack that connects the bottom of the digits in the date. The softly frosted surfaces are covered with even lilac-gray toning on each side, and there are no obvious or distracting marks present. A very rare opportunity for the Seated Dime specialist. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
