<B>1866 G$1 PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC.</B></I> Proof 1866 gold dollars are very rare, and it is estimated that fewer than 20 specimens of the original 30 pieces minted still remain. 16 coins have been graded by NGC and PCGS, 14 have been assigned the Cameo designation, and 12 have been labeled Deep or Ultra Cameo. Obviously, some of these are resubmissions. At any rate, the Superb Ultra Cameo in this lot displays a rich orange-gold patina and outstanding contrast between the frosted, boldly struck design elements and highly reflective fields. Both faces are impeccably well preserved.
