<B>1866 $20 MS61 PCGS.</B></I> This is a stunning Mint State example that represents the debut of the Type Two coinage, featuring the addition of IN GOD WE TRUST inside the constellation of 13 stars on the reverse. The mintage of this issue was nearly 700,000 coins, suggesting that it should be plentiful today. While this may be true in lower circulated grades through XF, examples that qualify as AU are elusive, and any Mint State grade is a rarity. The four finer certified examples include MS62 and MS63 Prooflike pieces certified by NGC, and MS62 and MS64 pieces certified by PCGS. Both sides have deep honey-gold color and the fields are prooflike with full obverse and reverse mirrors. Excellent eye appeal is created by the addition of orange toning.
