<B>1866 1C PR65 Red Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Ex: Richard. The 1866 is a conditionally rare early proof in the bronze Indian cent series. The surfaces are carefully preserved with only a few carbon flecks on each side. Also, the devices are razor sharp and set atop glistening reflectivity in the fields. It is, however, the presence of the frosted luster on the devices that creates a pronounced cameo effect, and truly sets this coin apart from the typically encountered survivor of this issue. Since the Mint did not record the original mintage for the proof 1866 cent, the best figure we have to go on is an estimate of 725 pieces based on the number of silver proof sets prepared.
