1866 1C One Cent, Judd-456, Pollock-530, Low R.7, PR63 PCGS. Regular Indian cent die trials issue. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. While these pieces have traditionally been classed as patterns, it is possible that they were struck on leftover planchets used for regular coinage from 1857-1864 and thus may actually be mint errors. About a dozen are believed to exist. This is a bright example that typifies the "white cents" designation as copper-nickel coins were known when they were new. A bit softly struck on the tips of the upper feathers of the headdress. There is a subtle spot on the F in OF and a shallow, horizontal slide mark in the left center of that side that limit the grade. However, the mint luster is nothing less than outstanding.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
