1866 assignment Edward Hely to Hugh O'Rorke, 1866 lease Hugh O'Rorke to James Walker and Sealy, paper merchants and printers (known to collectors for their advertising and recruiting posters), 1872 lease Thomas Joseph Young to Walker and Sealy, 1873 leases with coloured maps Walker and Sealy to the Dublin Whisky Distillery Company. The Dublin Whiskey Distilleries commenced operation on the Tolka River site in 1873 but never reached a profitable capacity. It merged with The Dublin Distillers Company (DDC) in 1891, which also had distilleries in Thomas Street and Marrowbone Lane. DDC stopped production at the Tolka premises in 1926, though it is believed a small quantity of whiskey was made there in the 1940s during the war. The company finally dissolved in the late 1940s after the sale of its existing stocks. Some of the remaining distillery buildings were recently converted into apartments called Distillery Lofts.
