1865-S AU58 NGC. Perfect Date. The Blundered Die or Inverted Date variety of this year received a higher premium for many years because of its dramatic, clearly visible mint error. Only recently has it become clear that the Perfect Date variant is even rarer. This is among the finest known examples of this rare issue. Garrett and Guth comment, "The quality of survivors is lower than average for a No Motto eagle with most examples falling into the VF category. Extremely Fine and About Uncirculated examples are extraordinarily rare ..." This important near-Mint example has most of its original satiny luster, displaying occasional softness on the obverse stars and the eagle's neck feathers. There is a slight reddish tint overall. Unobtrusive abrasions are generally limited to the exposed fields. Census: 4 in 58, 1 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
