(1865-Dated) Andrew Johnson Indian Peace Medal. Largest Size. IP-40. Struck at the United States Mint in Yellow Bronze. Engraved by Anthony Paquet. NGC graded Mint State-64.

Julian IP-40. 76 mm. This is a truly beautiful superb quality specimen. This medal, dated 1865, was struck at the Mint about 1900 (not noted on its NGC Insert) using the new reverse design. This is an impressive, medal that features the new reverse Engraved by Anthony Pacquet and struck at the United States Mint. This reverse of this medal was originally to have been made for Abraham Lincoln’s second term medal, but when Lincoln was assassinated, the mint decided to use the reverse anyway on Johnson’s medal. The reverse features many American icons, including abust of George Washington on a pedestal, a steam engine, plow, herd of buffalo, etc. The color is a rich, even natural “Yellow Bronze” in color. This medal is handsomely housed in its special, 7.25” x 5.75” custom NGC Certification display holder.
