<B>1865 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-416, Pollock-488, High R.6, PR64 PCGS.</B></I> A transitional pattern with the designs of the 1866 Rays Shield nickel issued for circulation, but dated 1865. In the same category of patterns as the widely collected 1856 Flying Eagle cent, but not as well known. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Delicately toned pale gold and powder-blue, with minor striking weakness in the centers. Housed in a green label holder.
