1865 3CS MS66 NGC. Production of Three Cent Silvers fell throughout the Civil War until it reached a low of just 8,500 pieces in 1865. Of this total, 8,000 coins were business strikes. Survivors of this delivery are rare in all grades, particularly those above the MS63 level of preservation. Wholly original, the surfaces exhibit slate-gray color that forms a splendid backdrop for dappled crimson-russet and charcoal-olive overtones. There is a splash of sea-green patina over the upper left reverse, and clashmarks (as struck) are also noted on that side and in the field around the obverse star. Boldly, if not sharply detailed in all areas with nary a distracting abrasion to report. Population: 10 in 66, with a mere four finer (7/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
