<B>1865 3CN PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Repunched Date. B. 2-B. The business strike 1865 is perhaps the most common date in the three cent nickel series, but its specimen counterpart is the rarest of the proofs. Congress authorized this denomination with the Act of March 3, 1865, but the proofs were delivered too late to be included in the year's sets. Smooth from rim to rim with no distracting contact marks to report, this well-contrasted Premium Gem is evenly toned a medium golden color over each side. A few trivial opaque toning flecks are noted in the fields, none of which are out of context with the PR66 designation.
