1865 3CN PR65 PCGS. Walter Breen (1977) writes that 400 plus 1865 three cent nickel proofs "Authorized by (an) Act of Congress, March 3, 1865, (were) therefore not included in the 100 proof sets of February 25 and possibly not in some others. Extras presumably might have been struck to memorialize the new denomination ... " The 2007 Guide Book suggests 500 or more three cent nickels were produced. This PR65 specimen displays subtle ice-blue and gold-beige patination and well impressed design features. Both sides reveal excellent preservation. Housed in a green-label holder. Population: 49 in 65, 13 finer (3/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
