1865 $3 AU58 PCGS. The green-gold surfaces reveal prooflike surfaces and amber-gold luster near the peripheral devices. Small hairlines and a few superficial pinscratches are seen in the fields. The devices are generally well struck, except on the lower wreath. The low mintage of 1,140 pieces guarantees the absolute rarity of the 1865 three dollar gold issue. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $6.00 from E.K. Washburn on December 1935. Envelope with notations "1865 $3.00 xf was proof E.K. Washburn Dec 1935 $6.00" included. Population: 12 in 58, 9 finer (2/07).
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
