1865[25C] PR68 Cameo NGC.
1865<25C> PR68 Cameo NGC. Ex: P. Kaufman. Briggs 3-B. There are currently five 1865 Seated Quarters graded PR68 at NGC and PCGS. This may seem odd for a silver issue from the final year of the Civil War and, indeed, many proof 1865 Quarters were probably carelessly handled during the general chaos of the era. The obverse die of this issue is readily identifiable by the presence of a few small lumps (as produced) on Liberty's portrait. The most prominent of these are located on Liberty's torso and right (facing) thigh. Also, the point of the shield is over the upright of the 1 in the date and the left base of the same digit is over the left side of a denticle.
This is the only PR68 Seated Quarter of this date that has been certified with a Cameo designation (6/04). A simply beautiful specimen, both sides display stark contrast between the fully frosted devices and deeply mirrored, glassy fields. Light golden iridescence overlays the features, none of which reveal any grade-limiting blemishes. We expect that specialists will follow bidding on this coin with great enthusiasm and interest.
Ex: FUN Signature Sale (Heritage, 1/03), lot 6723, which realized $19,550.
From the JFS Collection.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
